New submission: What is Patroni, really?

Alexander Kukushkin has submitted a new session! What is Patroni, really? Patroni is widely recognized as a high-availability solution for PostgreSQL—but what really makes it tick? In this talk, we’ll explore its architecture, core principles, and the clever mechanisms that keep it resilient in production. We’ll go beyond the documentation to uncover the design decisions—both brilliant and painful—that shaped Patroni into what it is today. We’ll also touch on the practical challenges that come with deploying Patroni in real-world environments: choosing and managing distributed configuration systems like Etcd or Consul, handling backups and point-in-time recovery, managing PostgreSQL configuration, and integrating tools like pgbouncer. These are the kinds of questions that regularly surface in the community and define what it means to run Patroni in production.
